Baptism

So Iggies...
My sister, brother-in-law and I are in a bit of a quandry right now. The three of us were infant baptized, and we have all come to the point where we would like to study more about baptism and make the decision whether or not to be baptized as adults or not. I grew up in a pretty staunchly Reformed environment, but we all are starting to have doubts about infant baptism.
I'm going to leave this pretty open-ended. What are your thoughts on baptism? What do you think about people who were baptized as infants? What exactly IS baptism?
We need all the help we can get-- I'm pretty much clueless, as are my brother-in-law and sister.

Well, I would say that if you have peace about your infant baptism than that is fine. But if you feel that you want to publically make known your allegiance to Christ based on a willful choice. Get baptized!

I was Christened/Baptized in the Presbyterian Church as an infant as well.
I think that Christening is a good thing but that "Infant Baptism" doesn't really mean any thing. (Basically, I belive that I have not yet been baptized.) I don't belive that baptism is necessary for salvation, but why wouldn't you want to do it. Like Peter said, it is a powerful representation of your dedication to Christ. (Since I didn't really have a point of conversion, I didn't ever feel like "this is the time", so I was waiting untill I found the church I felt I would become a member in.
I want to be baptized, but I'm waiting for the right time. (I'm thinking that maybe it should be soon.)

Sorry to ramble. Just my thoughts.

Is baptism just the public declaration of your faith or is there something more to it? Thats the main question that keeps on coming up for me.
